Sam Brown III

Samm Brown III (born...), usually known by his first and last name without the generational appellation, is a well-known African-American songwriter, record producer, arranger and composer and self-described "music industry insider" working in Los Angeles. He is noted for involvement in 9 #1 records, 6 #1 singles, 10 RIAA Gold Record achievements, and other music-industry related accomplishments and awards, often performing multiple roles such as songwriter and producer. While his status as a public figure may have been guaranteed solely by substantial music industry notoriety, he also serves as somewhat of a guru for aspiring talents in his many radio programs and written articles and has achieved a following for his sage advice on coping with an industry that is widely regarded as cloistered and 'difficult to penetrate as a career choice.' One of Brown's passions is the cause of empowering so-called minority persons aka "people of color" to follow their dreams, since he witnessed and was part of the development of several very high profile African American artists, such as Michael Jackson.

Brown plays drums... He is also an accomplished strings and horn arranger/conductor and has played key roles in the development of various musical artists, primarily in the Rhythm & Blues and (a term he coined) Hip Pop genres. He is a man of imposing physical stature at well over 6 feet tall. A self-proclaimed expert in the art of the schmooze, Samm Brown III built his own formidable career alongside some of Hollywood's highest-profile innovators by learning and adopting the skills and "winning ways" of other top music professionals. He was described by Michael Jackson as "the next Quincy Jones."[1]

Mostly known for his involvement in so-called "black" music (that is mainly created by African Americans), Samm Brown's public career in music spans more than two and a half decades, and features involvement in many hit song and hit album productions, as well as writing, arranging and conducting for film and TV. There is a strong Chicago Symphony connection noted on Brown's personal pages on myspace.com and his official web site [2] He also hosts and produces radio programs about the business of entertainment, specifically music for film, television and radio, etc. on Los Angeles-based radio station KPFK FM.
